TRACES video
TRACES is the online platform of the European Commission that tracks the movements of animals, animal products, food and feed of non-animal origin and plants imported from outside the European Union, or moved through the European Union. More than 42,000 users from more than 85 countries worldwide connect to TRACES in 34 languages, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Animal Traceability video
The registration of holdings, the allocation of a unique identification number for every bovine animal together with an individual passport and the registration of any movement in the national databases, guarantee a full traceability of cattle movements.
Three major tools are put in place to support this traceability in the EU: TRACES which records all the movements between Member States, BOVEX (Bovine Exchange) which allows automatic exchange of bovine identification data across certain national databases and ADNS (Animal Disease Notification System) which allows Member States to alert each other in case of outbreaks of disease.
