Farm to Fork: Commission seeks views on New Genomic Techniques

NGTs are capable of altering the genetic material of organisms which could be used for food, industrial or pharmaceutical purposes.

The European Commission launched a public consultation, calling on civil society, public authorities, business operators and everyone interested to provide their views on New Genomic Techniques (NGTs) for plants. NGTs are capable of altering the genetic material of organisms which could be used for food, industrial or pharmaceutical purposes. These new techniques, enabling faster, more specific and more efficient breeding processes, have been developed over the two last decades. They are expected to keep expanding.
