The Commission has published a guidance document on measures to prevent and respond to highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) with potential zoonotic impact in animals other than birds.
The document outlines the practical action that can be taken at EU and national level to prepare for and respond to a case of HPAI in mammals or food.
It outlines key prevention, surveillance and response strategies for such situation, in line with the robust EU animal health framework already in place.
The guidance document is part of the Commission’s One Health approach to tackling highly pathogenic avian influenza and the risk of zoonotic spillovers.
