About the Pet Animals Network
The Pet Animals Network (PAN), launched in 2024, was created to facilitate cross-border notifications related to the health and welfare of companion animals, such as cats and dogs.
The creation of PAN was driven by the increasing number of iRASFF notifications regarding illegal activities and health risks affecting pet animals, highlighting the need for a dedicated module to manage such cases across Europe.
PAN enables authorities to exchange crucial information, request assistance, and collaborate on issues of cross-border irregularities and suspicions of fraud. This system supports veterinarians, administrative authorities, customs, and law enforcement agencies in different countries.
Through its collaborative framework, PAN ensures efficient communication among stakeholders, helping Member States coordinate actions to combat illegal activities, enforce regulations, and ultimately improve the health and welfare of companion animals across the EU.
