General rule: The certificate is valid for 10 days.
However, in the case of an equine animal, accompanied by its single lifetime identification document (passport) with a valid validation mark or a valid licence, for which an individual animal health certificate on a model EQUI-INTRA-IND is issued, the validity of the animal health certificate required for movement to another Member State may be extended to 30 days.
A certificate with a 30-day validity period allows multiple entries into other Member States and the return of the animal to the establishment of its departure.

Yes, any horse moved to another Member State must be accompanied by a certificate issued on a model EQUI-INTRA-IND or EQUI-INTRA-CON, despite the purpose of such movement.
However, the competent authorities of a Member State of destination may grant derogations from certain animal health requirements for movements of equine animals for sporting purposes near borders or from animal health certification requirements for movements of registered equine animals.

Equine animals moved between Member States or between a Member State and a third country can only be transported by a transporter registered by a competent authority and an assigned unique registration number. Additional animal welfare rules may apply to such transports.
