Within the framework of the Better Training for Safer Food programme, the Commission organises regular training sessions on veterinary checks at airport, seaport, road and rail border control posts (BCPs).
There are around six sessions every year, which each welcome around 40 experts from BCPs staff and central authorities of EU countries, EEA countries and special Agreement countries.
The sessions usually consist of a four day training with a well balanced mixture of presentations and practical workshops.
They take place directly in BCPs, i.e. "in the field", so that trainees can be provided with exercises of real-life practice.
BTSF is a Commission initiative implemented by the European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA).
