Veterinary medicines: Commission organises event to welcome legislation’s achievements

On Monday 20th June, the Commission will hold a half-day event on the veterinary medicines legislation.

The event will celebrate the achievements of the Regulation and its key role in the EU’s fight against antimicrobial resistance as a tool to achieve the Farm to Fork Strategy objectives, in particular cutting EU sales of antimicrobials for animal farming and aquaculture by 50% by 2030. The event, which will be opened by Stella Kyriakides, Commissioner in charge of Public Health and Food safety, will gather representatives from regulatory bodies (such as the European Medicines Agency; Heads of Medicines Agencies), from the veterinary pharmaceutical industry and stakeholders who will highlight what the Regulation on veterinary medicinal products holds for them and outline how they can contribute to its implementation or achieving its objectives. The participants will not only review the achievements of the Regulation, which entered into application on 28 January 2022, but will also showcase the successful cooperation which contributed to the implementation progress so far and needed to complete the process successfully. The full programme is available here. The event will be available via web-stream.
