Investing in plant health is essential to ensure sustainable and competitive agriculture, horticulture and forestry industry.
EU rules on plant health aim to protect crops, fruit, vegetables, flowers, ornamentals and forests from harmful pests and diseases (harmful organisms) by preventing their introduction or spread in the EU.
The specific objectives of the Regulation (EU) No 652/2014, related to plant health expenditures, refer to the contribution for the control and prevention of organisms harmful to plants or plant products.
Survey programmes concerning the presence of pests, emergency measures and programmes concerning the control of pests in outermost regions of the Union are co-funded through Regulation (EU) No 652/2014.
