Designated laboratories for performing rabies antibody titration tests

Entry into the EU from non-EU countries or territories

The rabies antibody titration test required for dogs, cats and ferrets entering the Union from a non-EU country or territory not listed in Annex II to Implementing Regulation (EU) No 577/2013 must be performed in an official laboratory in a non-EU country or territory listed in Annex VIII to Implementing Regulation (EU) 2021/404, designated by the competent authority of the non-EU country in accordance with Article 37 of Regulation (EU) 2017/625. These laboratories must therefore be specifically accredited for performing this analytical method.

Non-commercial movement into the EU from non-EU countries or territories

The rabies antibody titration test required for dogs, cats and ferrets subject to a non-commercial movement into a Member State from a non-EU country or territory not listed in Annex II to Implementing Regulation (EU) No 577/2013 must be performed in a laboratory in a non-EU country or territory listed in Annex VIII to Implementing Regulation (EU) 2021/404, designated by the competent authority of the non-EU country in accordance with Annex IV to Regulation (EU) No 576/2013 as last amended by Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2024/822. These laboratories must therefore be specifically accredited for performing this analytical method.
