Coordinated Control Programmes

Article 112 of the Regulation on official controls empowers the Commission to adopt coordinated plans organised on an ad hoc basis.

These coordinated control programmes are useful tools to better understand the extent of malpractices or fraudulent practices in a certain sector. They rely on harmonised sampling and methods of analysis to be implemented by all the participating countries, for a limited period, so that the results can be properly evaluated.

Coordinated Control Plans under Regulation (EC) No 882/2004:

• Recommendation on a coordinated control plan with a view to establish the prevalence of fraudulent practices in the marketing of certain foods, February 2013.

• Recommendation on a second coordinated control plan with a view to establishing the prevalence of fraudulent practices in the marketing of certain foods, March 2014.

• Recommendation on a coordinated control plan with a view to establishing the prevalence of fraudulent practices in the marketing of certain foods, March 2015.

• Recommendation (EU) 2019/794 of 15 May 2019 on a coordinated control plan with a view to establishing the prevalence of certain substances migrating from materials and articles intended to come into contact with food.
