Committees play a key role in ensuring that EU Decisions and Regulations on food and feed safety, animal health & welfare and plant health are practical and effective. See more information on Comitology.
The Commission may consult the relevant Committee on draft measures it is planning to adopt. The Committee can then deliver an opinion on the Commission's work.
Committees are made up of representatives from the EU countries. They are chaired by a European Commission representative.
