A report published by the European Commission offers an insight into the progress of food safety culture controls across EU Member States. “Food safety culture” refers to the collective values, behaviours, and communication practices essential for effective food safety management systems.

The Commission has authorised a genetically modified (GM) soybean for use as food and animal feed. This follows a scientific assessment by the European Food Safety Authority, which concluded that the GM soybean is as safe as its non-GM counterpart.

EFSA republished its scientific opinion on the renewal application for authorisation of genetically modified soybean MON 87769 for food and feed uses (GMFF-2023-21253) on 8 May 2026. The public may make comments for one month.
